Instead of begging engineering teams for custom API integrations, product and marketing teams can configure automated workflows—called Zaps—in under ten minutes.
We integrated and tested Zapier across a variety of operations workflows, putting its linear engine through the wringer. Kicking the tires on its setup flow, we found the user experience to be exceptionally polished and approachable. The platform offers built-in utilities like Filters, Paths, and Formatter to clean up variables, format dates, and split execution branches. A massive win for Zapier's billing model is that these utility steps don't count toward your monthly task usage—a major point of contrast with Make's trigger-heavy credit system.
Recently, Zapier has leanest heavily into AI orchestration by introducing features like Zapier Agents, Chatbots, and Canvas. Their AI assistant, Copilot, helps brainstorm and build Zaps using conversational natural language commands. Plus, their AI steps operate on a clear, upfront task multiplier (1x, 3x, or 5x depending on the model), so you always know exactly what a run is going to cost you before you trigger it.
However, Zapier's simplicity comes with a distinct pricing ceiling at scale. While the Professional plan starting at $19.99/month (billed annually) for 750 tasks is a low barrier to entry, it is strictly designed for a single user. If you want other team members to collaborate—using shared folders, shared app credentials, and SAML SSO—you'll have to upgrade to the Team plan, which jumps to a much steeper $69/month.
Furthermore, if you exceed your monthly task quota, Zapier automatically switches to pay-per-task billing by default to prevent your critical Zaps from halting.
