Why We Build

A Letter from the Founder

I built Workstak because I believe the next frontier of work deserves better tools.

Not more tools. Not another all-in-one platform that tries to do everything and does nothing well. Tools that are focused, opinionated, and built around how knowledge workers actually think and operate.

The software landscape is bloated. Every week brings another AI wrapper, another productivity suite, another dashboard promising to "10x your workflow." Most of them are noise. The ones that stick — the ones people actually love — do fewer things, better.

That's the thesis behind Workstak: a product studio building software for people who take their work seriously.

Our First Product: Perch

Perch is a lightweight macOS companion for notes, tasks, and focus. It sits beside your work — not on top of it. No cloud dependency. No setup overhead. No feature creep. Just a fast, calm interface that helps you capture what matters and stay on top of your day.

We built Perch because every existing option was either too heavy (Notion, Evernote) or too scattered (Apple Notes, sticky notes, WhatsApp messages to yourself). Perch lives in the middle: scratchpad speed with just enough structure to keep you honest about what you're actually working on.

Alpha Work

Workstak also publishes Alpha Work, a weekly newsletter exploring the next frontier of work. It's grounded, first-principles analysis for founders, operators, and knowledge workers who want to navigate the AI transition with clarity — not hype.

The newsletter isn't a marketing channel. It's how we think out loud, share what we're learning, and stay connected to the people we're building for.

The Vision

We believe work should feel like a lifestyle choice, not a sentence. It should be exciting, fulfilling, and empowering. Workstak exists to build products that make that possible — one focused tool at a time.
